Flat weaves often have beautiful designs and many people prefer them to the traditional Persian rugs that are much thicker and heavier. If you have a slit weave design, it is specially made with slits and we must be more careful with the cleaning. The inspection will be more extensive to see if any repairs are needed to secure any areas. Kilims when placed on a hard surface will benefit from a quality pad to help keep from wearing. While most Kilims do not bleed, they must be tested because if they bleed there is often no way to hide that fact. Often bleeding happens in the home from urine spots or spills treated with too aggressive of a cleaner. It is best to bring your Flatweaves to a skilled cleaner to bring them back to their true colors safely.

Imperial Rugs 8-Step Process
1 | PRE-INSPECTION
Carefully look over rug, checking for anything specific to the rug; damage, repairs needed, stains, how the rug was made and what fibers were used. This helps us determine how we will proceed.
2 | PRE-TEST
Carefully test ALL colors for possibility of dye bleed and determine which solutions we work best.
3 | DRY DIRT REMOVAL
This lengthy process thoroughly removes the fine dirt particles that accumulate over time. We use a gentle vibration on the back of most rugs. Many rugs have several POUNDS of dirt and ground in particles removed!
4 | PRE-TREATMENT, APPLY SOLUTIONS
When there are stains, heavily soiled areas, urine stains and odors, or the fringe is dirty, we pretreat these areas giving them extra time and attention which is crucial to the success of the cleaning. Solutions determined as safe in pre-test.
5 | GENTLY BRUSH
Gently brush fibers to loosen dirt. This step can be from a gentle brush on a buffer to handheld brushes, depending on the sensitivity of your fibers or possible age related weakness. The focus remains on safety and the best results possible.
6 | RINSE
Using our sloped cleaning surface, we thoroughly flush all contaminates from your pets, kids, food, and dirt out until the rinse water is running clear. For most rugs, steps 5, 6, 7 are repeated several times. 7 | WATER EXTRACTION AND DRYING
We gently use specialized extraction system and finish removing excess moisture to facilitate rapid drying in the final drying phase when we use our fans.
8 | DETAIL & PREP RUG FOR PICK UP, DELIVERY OR STORAGE
Inspect the rug for remaining spots, brush out the fringe, vacuum lightly and brush nap as needed to give uniform appearance.

We have two sheep pelt rugs which are amazing and comfy cozy on top of wood floors. The one in our living room was getting pretty beat down and dirty from a couple years of use despite our best attempts to keep it brushed and blown out. It also had some areas where the pelts meet that we’re looking like it was ruined. I didn’t have much hope when I dropped it off other than just coming back clean. just a warning that the man that owns this shop is very mean and unkind. my car happened to break down in front of his shop, 30 minutes before they closed and he came out, without a mask, tried to open my car door and get closer to talk to me and told me I had to leave because I was parked in his only spot. when I explained my situation (in tears) and that a tow was on the way, he said “nice” and walked away. he then came out once more when help arrived and asked me again when I would be leaving. really disappointed with his negative vibe and lack of basic empathy.

Imperial did a great job of cleaning our rugs several years ago, so when we recently needed repairs on some old family rugs, we took the rugs here. They did an excellent restoration on all three of the rugs we brought them; you cannot tell they were ever damaged. One was severely damaged around the edges, and we had to reduce the length, but unless you knew this, you would not be able to tell. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and professional.

Just had my rug cleaned by Imperial Rug Cleaning. It is a rug that has literally never been cleaned once, that I purchased 18 years ago. It is a wool rug that I purchased in Nepal. It has a lot of sentimental value to me. It's condition began to concern me. I saw the sign for Imperial Rug Cleaning and decided to give them a try. I figured what could it hurt at this point. The rug didn't appear to me that it could be cleaned, in its entirety. When I got to the store, they came out, assessed the rug, got me all set up and told me that this rug would look beautiful after a good cleaning. They told me about the process and said they would call in about two weeks when it was done. About a week later I got a call the rug was done. When I got it home and rolled it out I was absolutely astonished. They did a superb job. The rug looked brand new. The degree to which the rug got cleaned was far far beyond my expectations. I really couldn't believe it. It smelled fresh, felt fresh and clean. Some of the wear problems and such had all but vanished, spots of spilled oil that dotted the rugged were gone. Just a superb job. My rug has new life and is again a warm addition to the home. Thank you so much for the outstanding professional clean job performed on my rug. I will be back and would suggest this service to anyone needing rug cleaning services.

When it comes to getting your rug cleaned, Imperial Rug Cleaning in Longmont is the BEST! We have a sheepskin rug that had a couple of pet stains that I thought would not come out, but Imperial Rug Cleaning got the stains out.
